The Opportunity
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) to join our healthcare team on a part-time or casual basis. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in patient care and be committed to providing high-quality nursing services in various settings. As an RPN, you will play a vital role in delivering comprehensive care to patients of all ages, ensuring their comfort, safety, and well-being.
What You Will Do
Conduct thorough patient assessments, including reviewing medical histories, taking vital signs, and documenting observations accurately.
Administer medications and treatments, monitoring patient responses and reporting changes to the care team.
Provide direct patient care and support with daily living activities, ensuring comfort, safety, and dignity.
Collaborate with healthcare teams to create and update individualized care plans.
Perform phlebotomy and lab tests as required, documenting results in electronic health systems (Epic, Cerner).
Support patients with chronic conditions, pain management, and specialized care needs, including dementia, pediatrics, hospice, and senior care.
Educate patients and families on health conditions, treatment plans, and self-care.
Maintain infection control and safety protocols to ensure a secure environment.
Support and guide unregulated healthcare providers when needed, ensuring quality care standards are met.
Participate in ongoing professional development and apply new skills to enhance patient care.
What We Are Looking For
Minimum 3 months of recent, full-time RPN experience in long-term care or retirement home settings.
Diploma in Practical Nursing (or equivalent international education with Canadian certification) and registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario.
Valid credentials including Enhanced COVID-19 Vaccination, CPR, Vulnerable Sector Check, TB test / chest X-ray, N95 fit test, and professional liability coverage.
Strong assessment, communication, and documentation skills. Reliable, attentive, diligent, and committed to person-centered care.
Valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle is an asset; must be able to reliably commute to assigned location.
