The Opportunity
We are seeking Personal Support Workers (PSWs) to join our team on a part-time or casual basis at client locations in various areas. Athena Personnel connects PSWs with meaningful opportunities to provide compassionate, individualized care to residents at trusted long-term care and retirement home facilities.
What You Will Do
Provide compassionate, resident-focused care, assisting with activities of daily living including mobility, transfers, eating, dressing, toileting, personal hygiene, and grooming.
Offer social and emotional support, encouraging residents to use sensory aids and accompanying them to recreational activities and medical appointments.
Assist with mobility needs including transfers, ambulation with assistive devices, and range-of-motion exercises.
Perform light housekeeping in resident rooms, assist with meal preparation and feeding, and maintain a clean, comfortable environment.
Monitor and document vital signs (blood pressure, temperature, pulse, oxygen levels) and report changes to the nursing team.
Follow individualized care plans in coordination with the nursing team and maintain accurate documentation of services provided and observed changes.
Communicate regularly with residents’ families to provide updates and address concerns.
Promote safety through proper use of equipment, fall prevention measures, and infection control practices.
Participate in ongoing training and professional development to enhance caregiving skills.
What We Are Looking For
PSW Certificate from an accredited institution or equivalent (e.g., Internationally Educated Nurses). Note: Essor College is not considered an accredited institution.
Minimum of 3 months full-time hands-on experience providing care in a long-term care or retirement living setting in Canada.
Valid credentials including Enhanced Covid-19 Vaccination, CPR/BLS, Vulnerable Sector Screen, and Tuberculosis Test / Chest X-ray Result.
Compassionate, person-centered care approach with strong communication, documentation, and caregiving skills.
Reliability, attentiveness, and a professional work ethic.
Valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle (considered an asset for commuting).
